Project Details
Our team was engaged to detail, design and build all of the extensions to comply with Planning and Building Control Regulations as well as negotiating Party Wall agreements with neighbours. The extensions comprised of a mixture of kitchens, bathrooms, lounges, bedrooms or any other space that would improve living environments and make homes more comfortable.
Foundation works were a major element included in this project, due to the uneven makeup of soil structures varying from property to property. In some cases, the presence of hollow underground sections meant that piling to depths of 10 metres was necessary. This enabled an efficient process when knocking through to the pre-existing structure and carrying out all the required alterations. Decorative works such as painting, plastering, tiling and flooring completed the project. The project was completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of all parties without complaints.
Project Challenges
One of the challenges of this bespoke house extensions project was that all of the properties remained occupied during the works, which meant a thoughtful and sensitive approach was always required. The residents were taken into consideration at every step and our site manager personally ensured they were well informed of the work we would be undertaking and progress throughout the entire process. To guarantee further disruption was minimised, for each extension, the external structure was initially built and secured separately to the main building with all doors and windows installed.
