Yarner Woods Eco Lodge Project Update

Concept is delivering a new eco lodge and visitor centre at Yarner Woods in Dartmoor, in partnership with ISS and Natural England. This marks our third project with Natural England and reflects a strong and ongoing working relationship across environmentally focused sites.

The project will replace an existing building that had reached the end of its life after around 30 years. The new facility will provide a modern, purpose-built space designed to support education and visitor engagement, with a focus on connecting children, schools, and the local community to the surrounding woodland.

The scope of works includes demolition of the existing structure, followed by piling and foundation works, timber frame installation, internal works, full fit-out, and M&E installations. The project is expected to run for approximately 10 months. Having been on site for one month, works are progressing well, with completion planned for the end of 2026.

Sustainability is central to both Concept and Natural England, and this is reflected throughout the project. Timber sourced directly from the woodland is being used as part of a responsible approach to materials. The building will also incorporate photovoltaic panels, biomass systems, and water recovery solutions to support reduced energy use and lower carbon emissions.

In addition, a local supply chain within a 25km radius has been engaged to minimise transportation and further reduce environmental impact. This approach supports both carbon reduction and local economic value.

Once complete, the new eco lodge will provide high-quality educational facilities for local school children, alongside improved amenities for visitors to Yarner Woods.
